Shenice Reeves, Toddler Connections Leader & Substitute Float Teacher

After learning more about the BOPN program, Shenice noticed how children’s behavior is affected when they cannot go out due to the weather, compared to when they do go outside.

Shenice was born in Trinidad and raised in Boston, MA, and she has been an early childhood educator for about 8 years. Shenice has worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and has worked in a center-based program for the majority of her career.

After learning more about the BOPN program, Shenice noticed how children’s behavior is affected when they cannot go out due to the weather, compared to when they do go outside.

In her classroom, Shenice’s philosophy was, ‘No matter the weather, I am taking my toddler class outside,’ even if it was just for a short walk around the building.

She would always tell parents to leave an extra pair of shoes, rain boots, and snow boots, because children love to explore their environment, and that includes the weather outside.

Shenice loves going on walks and hiking around the arboretum, especially during the spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom. She would love to explore more hiking trails throughout Massachusetts and other states, and go outdoor camping. Shenice also loves to fish, and hopes to go on more fishing trips, and visit more countries to explore their nature and cultures.
