From watching the stars and moon as a child to observing and forming connections with birds and squirrels as an adult, Selene has remained captivated by the outdoors and the sense of wonder it inspires.

Selene has always felt deeply connected to the natural world. From watching the stars and moon as a child to observing and forming connections with birds and squirrels as an adult, she has remained captivated by the outdoors and the sense of wonder it inspires.

A lifelong learner, Selene holds an Associate of Science in Human Services and a Certificate in Early Childhood Development from Bunker Hill Community College, as well as a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Simmons University.‍ ‍
She draws from each of these areas of study to create a person-centered approach to teaching and learning.

Selene believes that every child deserves to be fully seen, heard, and valued. By creating environments where children feel safe, included, and represented, she believes educators can cultivate the foundation for meaningful learning, allowing curiosity and confidence to take root and grow like a nourished seed.

Since 2023, Selene has worked in private early childhood education as both a toddler and preschool teacher. She believes children should be empowered from an early age to recognize their own strengths, voices, and inherent worth, carrying that sense of self with them throughout their lives as a kind of superpower. For Selene, nature provides a beautiful space for children to discover that power through resilience, exploration, imagination, curiosity, and whimsy.

She is passionate about giving children the freedom to explore through play, ask questions, take healthy risks, and discover just how much they are capable of. Her goal is to create learning experiences that nurture not only knowledge, but also a child’s sense of wonder, connection, and confidence in themselves and the world around them.

Selene lives in Boston with her family. Outside of teaching, she enjoys observing, photographing, and filming the wildlife in her backyard, where she continues to find inspiration in all the wonders of the natural world.
