Sarah Kenerson, Art Teacher & Assistant Teacher

Sarah’s aspiration is to create positive media for youth that eventually enables them to establish a profound connection with their environment and physical selves.

Sarah Kenerson is a multi-disciplinary artist with a heart for children and a passion for play. Currently enrolled in the Interrelated Media program at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, she is driven by a commitment to understand little ones and what makes them tick. Her aspiration is to create positive media for youth that eventually enables them to establish a profound connection with their environment and physical selves. The allure of nature serves as a primary well for her creative practice.

Although raised in rural Texas, Sarah's lineage extends deeply into the cultural fabric of Eritrea. Reverberating through her upbringing were the ancestral narratives shared by her mother; tales of accomplished healers, her aunts and grandmothers harmonized with nature, nurturing and cherishing the Earth's bounties. These stories ignited within her a deep curiosity, propelling her to delve into the realms of herbal wisdom and ancient medicine all while forging a profound connection between past and present.

During her time at BOPN, she hopes to rekindle her own sense of wonder alongside her students, taking a pause from busy city life to simply marvel and let curiosity lead the way!
