Keara Savage, Fellow

Keara’s passion for working with kids began almost as early, when she began a home-based outdoor French camp in middle school with her sister.

Having grown up regularly immersed in the natural landscapes of New England, Keara has been a lover of nature since childhood, and her passion for working with kids began almost as early, when she began a home-based outdoor French camp in middle school with her sister. Keara is a 2023 graduate from Bucknell University with a degree in Political Science and French as well as minors in Studio Art and Political Theory. During her time in college, Keara continued to nurture her passions for childcare and teaching outside of the classroom while working at a childcare center, setting up ‘English play’ classes on her year abroad in France, and running a French book club for kids in her hometown. It was within the classroom, however, that Keara began to make connections across the areas of her life and deeply consider critical questions regarding nature and education of the whole person- ultimately leading her to the world of outdoor education. She is absolutely thrilled to join BOPN and grow within a global community of teachers who share her wish to nurture children’s relationships to the natural world.

In her spare time, Keara is experimenting with new recipes, taking ballet classes, and visiting museums. She is an amateur 'youtube video yogi' and she also likes to paint and draw for fun. This summer Keara has brought her love of the outdoors to the mountains of Glacier National Park where, when not working, she is attempting to climb as many peaks as she can!
