Owen Woodcock, Lead Teacher

Owen started at BOPN in school year 2022 - 2023 and enjoys sharing their love of plants, animals, and all things outdoors.  Before teaching at BOPN, Owen worked at an urban farm in Dorchester, where they both grew vegetables and taught children about nature.  Owen has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences from Boston University and has spent years working in childcare as a nanny, babysitting, and at summer camps where they taught on ropes and adventure courses. They were drawn to ropes courses and challenge spaces because they love creating spaces that are safe for people to push themselves and grow individually as well as build communication and teamwork skills. Owen grew up in Jamaica Plain attending a Montessori school and has spent innumerable hours in the Arboretum. They are a community organizer and have spent a lot of their life building community around farms and other green spaces in Boston and particularly in Jamaica Plain. In addition to farming, Owen spends their time riding their bike, woodworking, cooking, painting, taking care of their houseplants and listening to audio books.
