Maggie Del Re, Teacher

After completing their Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies at Brandeis, Maggie came to BOPN excited to continue to share their love of being outside with young children.

As a child who enjoyed hiking and running through the woods, Maggie found a love for being in nature and a curiosity for science at an early age. As they grew older and learned about the effects human actions can have on the environment, their love for the outdoors evolved into a passion for environmental justice and sustainability.

Maggie realized their place in the environmental movement was in outdoor education in 2021 while they were simultaneously teaching after-school programs at Wright Locke Farm and working as an undergraduate teacher’s assistant at Brandeis University. They adored being outside teaching and learning alongside young people! Maggie also became fascinated by pedagogy and teaching strategies while editing draft chapters of their professor's upcoming book about teaching higher education, which confirmed to Maggie that a career in education would be a perfect path. After completing their Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies at Brandeis, Maggie came to BOPN excited to continue to share their love of being outside with young children. They aspire to earn their lead teacher certification through Neighborhood Villages by 2025 and hope to help foster a love of learning in all of their students!

In their free time, Maggie also loves playing guitar, reading, & traveling.
