Marcia Hubelbank, Site Manager
Marcia is very excited for the opportunity to support children’s exploration (and teacher practice) in the beautiful, and endlessly fascinating, natural world that is the Arboretum!
Welcome, Marcia!
Marcia S. Hubelbank has over 40 years of experience working with, and learning from, young children and their families. She holds two Montessori teaching credentials (Early Childhood and Infant/Toddler) and a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Psychology.
She has taught at both progressive and Montessori preschool and toddler programs, and has consulted in over 100 toddler/early childhood programs, both in the US and in China.
Until recently—when the children aged out—Marcia was the facilitator of a home-based, parent/child cooperative program. The highlight? One morning a week, they would adventure in the Arboretum!
Marcia has presented at multiple state and national Montessori conferences, and has been an Infant/Toddler teacher trainer for more than 15 years. This role brought her to China multiple times during the mid 2000s, and to Korea in January 2025.
As the founder of her private parent/caregiver/teacher coaching practice Understanding the Nature of Childhood, Marcia offers insight, guidance and support to deepen her clients’ relationships with the young children in their lives. Drawing from current research, Montessori principles, and her own real world experience, Marcia’s mission is to bring out the best in children, and those who care for them!
