Heloise Guyette, Teacher

Heloise finds empathy and communication at the core of her teaching practice, and she strives to learn through collaboration with each child.

Heloise grew up in Vermont and attended Champlain College, graduating with a B.S. in Psychology. After graduation, she worked as a lead teacher for an outdoor-based education program. This is where Heloise discovered her passion for nature-based learning, and she is excited to build upon her teaching practice at BOPN.

Heloise finds empathy and communication at the core of her teaching practice, and she strives to learn through collaboration with each child. Her fondest memory from prior work in a nature-based setting is going on pollinator walks in the spring, and sprinkling native wildflower seeds along the trails.

Heloise grew up in rural Vermont, experiencing nature’s vast benefits on childhood firsthand. Behind her home, Heloise explored the wooded trails—absorbing the abundant knowledge held there—and recalls following the river wherever it took her. She hopes to instill the same sense of wonder and curiosity in BOPN children that she gained from growing up in the woods.

In her free time, Heloise enjoys painting and crafting of any sort. She also hopes to learn and apply more sign language within her daily life and teaching practice!
