Becca believes that fostering connections with nature early on in one’s life is important for physical and mental well-being

Becca grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts and attended Northeastern University- she has spent her whole life in the Boston area. She graduated in December 2023 with a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Environmental Sciences. While in school she took a summer class called “Science of Play” that introduced her to different types of learning and play environments for children of all ages. Through this class she was able to partner with BOPN on a research project and ended up continuing to work with BOPN for the rest of the summer.

During college, she was on the executive board for the Northeastern chapter of Strong Women Strong Girls, an organization working to empower elementary school students at BPS schools through mentoring. Her favorite part was planning field trips every semester and spending the whole day with the mentees! She has learned from mentoring the importance of focusing on a child’s strengths and using them to help them grow even more. She sees nature based education as a way to blend together both parts of her degree. She believes that fostering connections with nature early on in one’s life is important for physical and mental well-being as well as creating environmental stewards for our future. In her free time, Becca loves to spend time with friends and family, listen to music, read books, crochet and craft, and spend lots of time outdoors!
