Scarlett Downing, Intern

Scarlett has always been fascinated by the relationship between people and the natural world, especially the identities formed regarding those connections.

Scarlett is a rising senior at Boston University studying Education & Human Development with a focus in Educational Design for Transformative Social Futures. While at BU, Scarlett has had the opportunity to work on high school college and career readiness curriculum with Boston Public Schools as well as work on research surrounding youth STEM education in museum settings. Back home she is the president of an outdoor leadership ministry for young adults. Scarlett is excited to be returning to her roots of preschool education with BOPN.

Scarlett has always been fascinated by the relationship between people and the natural world, especially the identities formed regarding those connections. The literature she’s encountered at BU has only deepened that interest. She hopes to help children receive nature based education in a way she was not afforded and foster responsible stewardship of our world.

In her free time, Scarlett enjoys crafting and making in all forms, especially scrapbooking. She also loves reading, journaling, and being active.
