Mikaela Savage, Intern

Mikaela is interested in the benefits of the outdoors, such as instilling curiosity, self-efficacy, and creativity.

Since she can remember, Mikaela’s fondest memories have been in nature, whether it was building fairy homes as a child, making watercolor paintings of plants, or hiking with her family. Mikaela is graduating from Boston College with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Global Public Health. She has been drawn to exploring the different processes shaping the mind, the different contexts in which we flourish as well as the interventions that can combat disparities.

Mikaela has loved her research with a developmental lab at her school, which studies questions of cooperation and fairness in children. All the while, she has pursued her love for nature through her involvement with an Outdoor Adventure Co-op, leading a variety of excursions, from backpacking trips to snowshoeing adventures. Mikaela has been well aware of the benefits of the outdoors, such as instilling curiosity, self-efficacy, and creativity. She is beyond thrilled for the opportunity to join the unique endeavor of nurturing children’s development through their relationship with nature. Most importantly, Mikaela is excited to share the joy of nature with her students!

In her free time, Mikaela loves painting, dancing, cooking with her roommates, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.
