Kara Star, Lead Teacher

Originally from Minnesota, Kara’s background is in child mental health with a specific focus on emotional regulation and trauma informed practice.  Kara taught at multiple nature preschools before coming to BOPN, including a Spanish immersion nature preschool, and a nature preschool in Seattle.

Kara loves working outdoors with preschoolers because she gets to be a partner in joyful discovery while also supporting them in such a crucial time of social/emotional development. Her favorite things about nature preschool are storytelling games, free exploration where students have a chance to lead, and messy process art.

When Kara isn’t at school she is usually hiking, watching stand up comedy, reading a good book, thrifting, or finding a new restaurant to check out!
