Christopher Cahill, Director of Operations

Chris grew up in Ireland and spent his childhood hiking in the mountains and fishing in the rivers and streams of County Clare.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Zoology at the University of Cork in 2011 and has been working in wildlife conservation and research for the last 10 years.

Chris has worked on a variety of wildlife conservation projects in Ireland, Montana, Colorado, and Massachusetts, often designing and implementing projects from the ground up. He recently completed his master’s at UMass Amherst in Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology, focusing on the human dimensions of wildlife conservation. This latest project will ultimately help reduce pathways of lead exposure for scavengers on National Wildlife Refuges. He is passionate about human-wildlife interactions, the ethics that surround these, and inspiring positive change in these interactions through outreach and education.

Chris was first introduced to BOPN as a parent of a student where he and his wife recognized the benefits of an outdoor classroom environment for their younger child. As a parent of a BOPN student, he was drawn to the position of Program Coordinator as the organization aligns with his families’ values. He is excited that his experience in research and project development can help further support the growth of the BOPN.

Chris lives near our Wellesley program with his two daughters, wife, and dog.  When he is not walking his dog, he spends his free time hiking with his family, growing vegetables, and playing music.
