Sally Slovenski, Director of Development

Sally brings broad, impactful program management and fundraising experience in support of numerous social and environmental issues to her role at BOPN.

Sally has spent much of her professional career working for nonprofit organizations focused on youth programming, community engagement, gun violence prevention, climate change mitigation and environmental stewardship.  She brings extensive environmental and nature-based program management and fundraising experience to the BOPN team.

Her appreciation for nature and outdoor education was inspired at an early age, while attending summer camp in Maine for 10 years before becoming a counselor. Those summers instilled in Sally a lifelong love of the outdoors—while on hiking and canoe trips, on nature walks, and living among the pine trees along the shores of Pleasant Lake.

With her summer camp experience, and knowledge of the value that environmental education programs provide youth, Sally is excited about the curiosity, connection to nature, and creativity nurtured at BOPN. She is eager to join the team and help make a positive difference for children, the natural world, and the sustainability of our precious planet.

Sally feels that to more effectively protect our natural world, it is essential that children (and adults!) understand the interconnectedness of all living things, and treat other sentient beings with kindness, empathy and compassion.

Afterall, she notes that clean air and water, biodiversity and flourishing forests and fields are essential for sustaining a healthy planet for generations to come. And deer, ducks, porcupines, and chipmunks love their homes and families just as we do!

In her free time, Sally enjoys spending time with family and friends in nature, including swimming, hiking, kayaking, star gazing, and making s'mores around a campfire.
