Mickayla Johnston

Full Day Toddler

At BOPN Mickayla combines her love of biology, nature, and childcare. She grew up in New Hampshire, and spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors, climbing trees, and listening to birds in her backyard. She graduated from Keene State College in 2018 with a B.A in Biology and Environmental Studies, and recently graduated from UMass Boston with a Master of Science degree in Environmental Biology, where her research focused on a common Massachusetts bird species, Red-Winged Blackbirds. She has also been babysitting and nannying for many years, and loves to encourage the children she cares for to play and discover new things in nature. Mickayla strongly identifies with BOPN’s mission to support children’s natural desire to explore and learn. She is excited to help foster a deep-rooted respect and appreciation of the natural world in her students, and watch them grow as little environmentalists!
